Accompanying the exhibit ยMax Ernst: In the Garden of Nymph Ancolie,ย currently on display at The Menil Collection, Hommage includes performances on piano by Rothenberg, who is artistic director for Da Camera, and Pedja Muzijevic, along with baritone Ryan McKinny (a graduate of the Houston Grand Opera Studio). Robert Schumannยs Papillons, Op. 2 and John Cageยs Dreams are among the musical works on the program, which are meant to reflect Ernstยs work during his early years in prewar Paris, World War II (during which he was twice interned) and later in America, where he helped to develop abstract expressionism.
