Artist/dancer Pat Graneyย’s installation House of Mind is taking over DiverseWorksย’s entire 6,000-foot building. All of it. Sheย’s filling it up with, among other things, a 100,000-button waterfall and a book room consisting of 4,000 books.

Graney has had a little help, of course. Houstonians donated thousands of books, along with mounds of high heels and buttons, as the raw supplies for the piece. (No doubt donors will be scouring the exhibit today looking for their books or shoes.) But thereย’s more to see than just the physical exhibit. Graney and her troupe of dancers have created works that theyย’ll be performing over two weekends.

Regular viewing hours for the exhibit are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, through February 7. Dance performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, today through February 7, with an additional show Thursday, February 5. 1117 East Freeway. For information, call 713-223-8346 or visit www.diverseworks.org. The exhibit is free; performances are $8 to $15.

Wednesdays-Saturdays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: Jan. 30. Continues through Feb. 21, 2009
