The innovative Houston Metropolitan Dance Company routinely draws the eye of established local and national choreographers, but the company puts a special emphasis on incubating choreographic talent from within its own ranks. A ยdancing think-tankย might be a good way to describe the cerebral group, which combines ballet, modern, classical and contemporary jazz styles. Todayยs installation of the companyยs annual Spring Concert features four premieres and two reprises by a number of emerging and established choreographers. The list includes the companyยs own Kiki Lucas, who will reprise her work Benevolence, which she premiered with the Met in 2004, and Joe Celej, who will show a new work as well as perform a duet, Whatยs More, with the companyยs manager, Marlana Walsh. There will also be performances of works by Salim Gauwloos, Peter Kalivas, Pattie Obey and Eddy Ocampo. 8 p.m. Wortham Theater Center, 501 Texas. For information, call 713-522-6375 or visit www.houstonmetdance.com. $10 to $35.
