The annual Houston Press Menu of Menus® -Extravaganza, presented by Stella Artois, returns to Silver Street Station, and it’s going to be better than ever. The evening features food from more than 40 Houston restaurants and samples of a wide variety of beers and wines. There’s also the 3rd Annual Iron Fork Chef Competition in which two local chefs are pitted against each other to cook up their best meal using a secret ingredient. This year’s competition pits last year’s winner, chef Kevin Naderi of Roost, against chef Kevin Bryant of Eleven XI. A panel of expert judges, including the Houston Press food critic, Kaitlin Steinberg, will decide the winner of this “battle of the Kevins.” Steinberg says Menu of Menus® is the Houston Press’s biggest culinary event of the year. “I think just about any sort of food you could crave will be at Menu of Menus,” she says. “We’ll have everything from Korean to Italian to Cajun to barbecue, and of course, lots of sweets for dessert.” Among the offerings this year are delightful seafood (hopefully gumbo) from Danton’s Gulf Coast Seafood Kitchen, Texas cuisine from Haven, vegetarian/vegan food from Radical Eats, Korean food from Nara, Italian food from Ciao Bello and sweets from Fluff Bake Bar (maybe those Fluffernutters will be available!). “It’s always super-festive, super-fun and super-filling,” Stein-berg says. “Wear your stretchy pants.”
