Check out the Houston Variety Showcase, an unexpected combination of talents. “I am always surprised to see what kind of talent you get out of a crazy bunch you bring together from all over Texas,” says host Eve Calientina. “There are whips, fire, knives, magic, comedy and sometimes female nudity. What else could you ask for?” Paolo Garbanzo (formerly known as Misha Karamazov of The Flying Karamazov Brothers) is set to take the stage eating fire and performing a special comedy routine that he normally reserves for goth clubs. You can also catch the always entertaining steampunk musical stylings of Addisyn Madd, stage magic by Drew Heyen, juggling by Bruce Manners and stand-up comedy by Steven Padilla. “I’m excited about the show because it’s a great mix of acts,” Padilla says via email. “It’s allowing me to work with a different group of talented artists. It also put me in front of a crowd I may not usually perform for.” The Houston Variety Showcase is promoted by Jay Braggart of the Braggart Family Circus.
