“Don’t Ask, Just Watch,” should be the motto of the postmodern Suchu Dance, whose choreographer, Jennifer Wood, rarely explains her work. Thatย’s a smart choice, because words almost never do the final work justice. The latest evidence of this is How to Absorb the Colorama Format, Wood’s newest transporting, hypnotic modern dance concoction. Despite what Coloramaย’s title suggests, Suchu Dance’s works never really tell a story or portray an event; Wood usually starts with an idea or concept and remains firmly in the abstract. This time, ten dancers, decked out in psychedelic, ย’70s-style prints, will take the stage before an audience completely surrounded by a circle of translucent panels portraying illuminated images. What does it mean? We already told you ย– donย’t ask, just watch. 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Through March 14. Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex, 2201 Preston. For information, call 713-529-1819 or visit www.suchudance.org. $10 to $29.99.

Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 5. Continues through March 14, 2009
