Emerging Texas artists have a friend in Hungryย’s Gallery. Not only does the exhibit space/cafe provide up-and-coming artists with the opportunity to show their work, it also awards yearly grants (translation: much-needed cold, hard cash). This year the grant money will be raised during Hungryย’s Gallery Third Annual Silent Art Auction. More than 20 artists, from inexperienced art students to big-name hot shots, have all contributed work to the auction. Among the works up for grabs is Victoria Lewellingย’s colorful abstract oil painting Jazz Scene I and Tasha Leimย’s domestic scene digital C-print London. Nothing has a starting bid of over $100, so even those of us with tiny pocketbooks have a chance at snagging something nice. 3 to 6 p.m. 2356 Rice Boulevard.
