The opera Il Postino (The Postman) focuses on Mario, a poor fishermans son turned personal postman for Pablo Neruda, one of Chiles most famous and controversial poets. Neruda takes Mario under his wing and teaches him the art of love poetry so Mario can win the affection of Beatrice, the niece of the local cafe owner. Il Postino will be sung in Spanish with English and Spanish subtitles. 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday, 2 p.m. Sunday. University of Houston, 4800 Calhoun.
