Ask filmmakers Steve Mims and Joe Bailey Jr. if an innocent man was put to death after today’s screening of Incendiary: The Willingham Case at 14 Pews. The film documents the 21-year-old Cameron Todd Willingham case involving the death of his three daughters in a house fire in 1991. Willingham was convicted for the crime and executed in 2004 — this despite the fact that the evidence against him was circumstantial and that, according to industry experts, the forensic data was based on “junk science.” Texas Governor Rick Perry, despite all the doubts about Willingham’s guilt, declined to stay his execution.

The film throws light on the questions surrounding the issue of the death penalty. Can we ever be sure about someone’s guilt? Sure enough to put them to death? 6:30 p.m. 800 Aurora. For information, call 281-888-9677 or visit www.14pews.org. Free to $10.
