It might be difficult to find an International Womenย’s Day greeting card to send to a friend, but you can still mark the holiday at Dancepatheatreย’s International Womenย’s Day Soiree. Theyย’ll be presenting the world premiere of Caution: Women at Work, a collaborative piece by poet Donna Garrett and choreographer Sara Draper. ย“We fuse the spoken word with modern dance,ย” says Draper of the work, which spotlights womenย’s issues, race and identity. (For anyone unsure of what the wide-reaching modern dance tag means these days, Draper explains: ย“Not ballet.ย”) During Women at Work, a pair of dancers join Garrett for her spoken-word performance, while Draper goes it alone for a monologue and dance solo. The evening also includes a presentation honoring the Center for the Healing of Racismย’s Cherry Steinwender, dinner and drinks. (It is a soiree, after all.) 7 p.m. Barnevelder Movement/Arts, 2201 Preston. For information, call 713-522-6000 or visit www.dancepath.com. $45.
