Something you might hear at an Art Chatter Critique Group meeting: ยHey brushy, brushy, brushyย
STEE-ROKE!ย Okay, that was pretty dumb (art/baseball analogies almost never work, do they?). What the invitation-only club actually does is get together, present work and talk frankly about it, as a way of what the group calls ยdefying the stereotype of the lone artist in isolated studio practice.ย The results of that process will be on display at the Jung Center as ยIntersections,ย an exhibition of works by 20 chatters. Thereยs an opening reception from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on January 11, with exhibiting artists on hand to discuss their methods and hear your assessments. Word to the wise, though: ยYou suckย isnยt recommended. And itยs ยcritique,ย not ยcretin.ย Regular viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through January 30. The Jung Center of Houston, 5200 Montrose. For information, call 713-524-8253 or visit www.cgjung-houston.org. Free.
