Israeli-Palestinian Comedy Tour may seem like four words that shouldnt go together. Charley Warady and Ray Hanania, the Israeli and Palestinian who founded just such a tour, beg to differ. Warady is a -Chicago-born comedian who appeared on Comedy Central before emigrating to Israel. Hanania, also a Chi-town native, is a Palestinian-American -journalist/commentator who authored the book Im Glad I Look Like a Terrorist. Joining them are Aaron Freeman, a Second City comedy troupe graduate, and Yisrael Campbell, who jokes about being a Catholic convert to Orthodox Judaism.
You can take a joke that, if we had a serious discussion, would really create an emotional argument, Hanania told the Los Angeles Times. But when you do it as a joke me making fun of the wall, Charley making fun of the checkpoints then everyone laughs. And everyones unified for the moment.
