In her first-ever Houston exhibition, Adaptation, local artist Katherine Venemans paintings offer a subtle commentary on change. Colorful and busy, her work sees boundaries as guidelines rather than precisely delineated separations. One object bleeds into another until the entire canvas becomes a swirl of color gone out of control. The wildly colored paintings are juxtaposed with a series of black-and-white drawings that counterbalance the explosion of color.
