The Manhattan Short Film Festival does more than just screen films; it gives viewers the chance to be part of a worldwide jury. Ten finalists will be screened at each festival site on six continents. Dik, a comedy that examines the paranoid reactions of a father who interprets his sons innocent drawing as an indication of the boys supposed homosexuality, is among the festivals highlights. (Somehow, bright pink grass and two stick figures of boys playing together cause the dad to have a major meltdown.)
Other films on the schedule include Incident by Bank, a dark comedy about a robbery, Sexting, in which a mistress meets her mans wife, and Martyr Friday, a documentary about the 2011 Egyptian uprising. After the screening, the audience votes for their favorites and a winner is announced.
