As a child, Mayuko Ono Gray attended calligraphy school every Saturday in Japan. That experience influenced Grays most recent exhibit, Japanese Calligraphy My Way, a collection of graphite drawings incorporating traditional Japanese calligraphy with contemporary Western-style drawing. Gray, a mostly figurative artist who is now based in Galveston, started the calligraphy project last year using proverbs from her childhood, such as Regret never comes first and Anything that takes a form will break sooner or later. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
