Are you an aspiring foodie looking to learn more about winemaking? Why not go to the source? Messina Hof Winery, located near Bryan College Station, has the perfect day-trip crash course. It’s harvest time for the vineyard’s award-winning port, and you get to participate in the process. The day starts at 8 a.m. with a quick orientation, and then it’s off to picking grapes and stomping the juice (you get a T-shirt stamped with your purple footprints). That’s followed by a buffet lunch at the winery’s Vintage House Restaurant and a food-and-wine pairing seminar. When the port hits the shelves, you’ll be able to say you helped make it! 8 a.m., Messina Hof Winery, 4545 Old Reliance Road (Bryan), 979-778-9463.
