Itย’s rare that teachers get to strut their stuff, as their students are usually in the spotlight, but when the instructors in question ย— the faculty of the University of Houstonย’s dance department ย— are some of Houstonย’s most prominent young choreographers, itย’s a treat to get a peek behind the curtains. Tonight, theyย’ll join Travesty Dance Group, the dancers of the UH Ensemble and AURA, the Moores School of Musicย’s contemporary musical ensemble, to present Moving Pictures, an eclectic, collaborative program focused on modern music and movement.

Todayย’s performance will feature Toni Leago Valleย’s Chess, based on dreams and nightmares, and Suchu Danceย’s Jennifer Woodย’s A Simple Way to Go Faster, among other works by the likes of Karen Stokes and Rebecca Valls. 8 p.m. Moores School of Music, University of Houston, 4800 Calhoun.
