Composer (and occasional Houston Press contributor) Chris Becker and bassist Thomas Helton will provide improvised music for a group of silent films during an event titled, appropriately enough, Music for Silent Films. Becker, who plays his laptop and Kaoss Pad during the performance, uses music samples to build a template for each film on his computer, but once the screening starts, he and Helton improvise along to the images. The films are by Texas artists Jonathan Jindra, Noe Kidder, Robert Thoth, Carolina Vasquez and Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola. 7 p.m. Divergence Music and Arts Space, 1824 Spring Street. For information, call 713-416-8944 or visit wwww.divergencevocaltheater.org. $10.
