Some people get a new watch or maybe a handful of gift cards for their birthday. If you are Golden Cities guitarist Marcus Gausepohl, you get to play a gig with Inner Lights and Austin instrumental post-rockers My Education – not a shabby musical birthday gift at all. MEs new LP Sunrise, a soundtrack to accompany F.W. Murnaus 1927 silent film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, doesnt hit stores until April 27, but what we have heard from it is stellar. The medium of film music construction seems to fit the band nicely, with their swells and dirges flourishing throughout Sunrises seven tracks. Its a meaty album that more than stands on its own apart from Murnaus dramatic film.
