Conspiracy and time-traveling portal theories aside, more than a few of us were wondering “wassup” when mysterious red doors showed up at The Galleria and at Landry’s Downtown Aquarium. We didn’t have to wait long; on June 7 these pop-up art installations were opened to reveal the amazing art of H-Town’s own Michael C. Rodriguez. Another door will be opened on June 9 during the Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park.
-
Rodriguez is the amazing artist who did the pop art mural at Winter Street Studios. -
We’ve seen his work at Houston Press Artopia on several occasions. -
So when PurePoint Financial Center wanted to announce their newly-opened office at 1800 Post Oak, Suite 6150, at The Galleria, they knew how to make a splash. -
The PurePoint folks did a survey and figured out that Houstonians are unique, though we already knew that. -
We’re saving our greenbacks for great, healthy lifestyles and new experiences, which isn’t necessarily true in other regions. -
So they called on Rodriguez to paint murals of our wish lists. Survey says, “48 percent of Houstonians indicated a dream vacation as inspiration for saving.” -
There’s also an incentive. Enter the “Unlock Your Future” sweepstakes at a local PurePoint Financial Center for a chance at winning a savings infusion. -
Looks good to us. -
There are two doors at The Galleria, 5085 Westheimer. One is at G4 and the other at G2. -
Survey says, “Nearly half of Houstonians – 47 percent – are saving for either college tuition (21 percent) or medical expenses (26 percent).” -
That means knowledge and health are tops on our lists. -
Another red door can be found at Landry’s Downtown Aquarium, 410 Bagby. -
Saving for a dream home was the inspiration behind Rodriguez’s mural at the aquarium. -
Official rules apply and are available at each PurePoint Financial Center in the Houston market. -
Don’t miss the one-night only red door reveal at Minute Maid Park during the Houston Astros game on Friday, June 9. -
Just a few more of our favorite works by Michael C. Rodriguez. (Shown here is a collaboration with @ackzilla.) -
Houston Press Artopia wouldn’t be the same without the murals of Michael C. Rodriguez. -
