Rebecca Ferguson in Silo Credit: Apple TV

On our streaming radar this week, you have a couple of returns and a new adaptation that weโ€™re going to dive right into. Whether you love blond superheroes or dystopian futures, we have something for you.

Up first is Silo Season 3 on Apple TV+.

This dystopian saga continues as we see Rebecca Ferguson return as Juliette Nichols after surviving her forced cleaning. As the silo recovers from the rebellion, new threats begin to emerge.

Some familiar names are returning, including Rebecca Ferguson, Common and Tim Robbins, along with Season 2 additions Jessica Henwick and Ashley Zukerman, who now become major players in Season 3.

This season also explores the โ€œbefore times,โ€ following a journalist and a U.S. congressman as they uncover the conspiracy that ultimately led to the siloโ€™s creation centuries earlier.

It is one of those incredibly bingeable shows based on some fantastic novels. If you havenโ€™t checked it out, go out of your way to start with Season 1. Youโ€™ll find yourself immediately enthralled by the way this story unfolds. Big credit goes to showrunner Graham Yost and this stellar cast.

Siloย Season 3 streams on Apple TV July 3.

I remember seeing Reese Witherspoon take on Elle Woods in Legally Blonde in the theater. Itโ€™s one of only two movies I can remember turning to my parents afterward and asking, โ€œWhen does that come out on video so I can go to Blockbuster and rent it?โ€ That probably dates me a little bit, but I remember that being such a thrilling experience as a kid. I absolutely loved that movie.

Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Jennifer Coolidgeโ€”even Ali Larter, who we now know as our favorite housewife of Midland-Odessa fromย Landmanโ€”the cast was just so good.

And that praise isnโ€™t just coming from me. In 2021, the Writers Guild of America West and East includedย Legally Blondeย among theย 101 Greatest Screenplays of the 21st Century, showing just how well crafted that film really is.

Since then, weโ€™ve gotten Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, a Broadway musical that premiered in 2007, a direct-to-video spin-off called Legally Blondes in 2009, and now, Elle.

The prequel series takes place six years before the events of the original film and follows Elle Woods during her high school years, with newcomer Lexi Minetree stepping into the role that made Reese Witherspoon a star.

Aside from a guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU a couple of years ago, Lexi Minetree is still very new to the scene, making this a massive opportunity for the young actress.

Elle premieres on Prime Video July 1.

Last but not least, returning for its second season is X-Men โ€™97.

The series picks up after the Season 1 cliffhanger, with the X-Men fragmented and scattered across different timelines, each struggling to find their way back home. Meanwhile, anti-mutant intolerance continues to rise in their absence, and Apocalypse emerges as the central threat.

X-Men โ€™97 is, of course, a continuation and adaptation of the beloved 1990s animated series that remains one of the most celebrated superhero cartoons ever made.

The first season perfectly captured the animation style and storytelling of the original series while staying even truer to the comic books that inspired it. The animators and showrunners absolutely knocked it out of the park in Season 1, and I expect nothing less from Season 2.

X-Men โ€™97 premieres on Disney+ July 1.
