As it turns out, today, Thursday, October 1, has been declared World Ballet Day and professional companies from around the globe are participating โ including our own Houston Ballet.ย
Houston’s portion, which will be shown from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on worldballetday.com, will include:
Rehearsals of Artistic Director Stanton Welchโs Tapestry, Christopher Bruceโs Ghost Dances and Garrett Smithโs new work Reveal will be broadcast, as well as portions of Houston Balletโs performance of Sir Kenneth MacMillanโs Manon featuring principal dancers Melody Mennite and Connor Walsh in the lead roles. Houston Ballet Academy and Houston Ballet II, Houston Balletโs second company, will also be featured with looks at their classes and their rehearsal of ย Welchโs The Long and Winding Road.ย
