As it turns out, today, Thursday, October 1, has been declared World Ballet Day and professional companies from around the globe are participating โ€” including our own Houston Ballet.ย 

Houston’s portion, which will be shown from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on worldballetday.com, will include:

Rehearsals of Artistic Director Stanton Welchโ€™s Tapestry, Christopher Bruceโ€™s Ghost Dances and Garrett Smithโ€™s new work Reveal will be broadcast, as well as portions of Houston Balletโ€™s performance of Sir Kenneth MacMillanโ€™s Manon featuring principal dancers Melody Mennite and Connor Walsh in the lead roles. Houston Ballet Academy and Houston Ballet II, Houston Balletโ€™s second company, will also be featured with looks at their classes and their rehearsal of ย Welchโ€™s The Long and Winding Road.ย
