He’s had his songs recorded by Frank Sinatra (“My Way”), Tom Jones (“She’s a Lady”) and Donny Osmond (“Puppy Love”), and he even contributed to Michael Jackson’s last hit (“This Is It”). Paul Anka, with 900 tunes to his credit, is considered one of the most successful and prolific songwriters in the business. But, as fans will see today, Anka is also a polished performer. He had his own string of No. 1 hits, including “Diana,” “Lonely Boy” and “You’re Having My Baby,” all of which he’ll perform with his own backing band. Anka’s recorded a staggering 125 albums and sold some 15 million, which produced more than 20 other chart toppers, such as “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” so he’ll have lots of material to choose from for his concert. (This event is presented by the Houston Symphony, but the orchestra does not appear with Mr. Anka.) 7:30 p.m. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. $35 to $135.
