Comedian Paul Oddo perfected his delivery at comedy festivals like Austin’s SXSW and the Boston Comedy Festival. When Oddo comes home to Houston to play the Joke Joint Comedy Showcase, expect to hear a refreshing combo of styles, especially when he gets topical. “I’m not opposed to guns,” he said at Washington, D.C.’s, Black Cat comedy club in 2013. “But I do think they should be incredibly difficult to get.… And the crazier the gun, the crazier thing you should have to do. Like, if you have a pistol, fine. You wait the five days, and you go and you get the thing. But if you go to somebody’s house and they have a bazooka, you’re like, ‘How did you do that?’ ‘Well, it cost me $15,000, and I had to teach absolute zero to a Catholic charity full of ADD kids, during lunch, and I have to do it every year to keep it.’ So that, I understand.”
