Stephen Fales was once a devout Mormon missionary…a devout Mormon missionary with homosexual inclinations. That eventually led to his excommunication. A gifted raconteur and actor, Fales turned his life story into Mormon Boy Trilogy, a trio of one-man shows. Theater LaB Houston has already brought us the first two plays, and now presents Fales in the regional premiere of the third, Prodigal Dad.
Gerald LaBita, artistic director of Theater LaB Houston, says, “Fales’s autobiographical true tale of a recovering crystal meth and sex addict is moving, funny and topical. Think of all those fathers (straight and gay) who suddenly don’t have rights once a divorce happens. This maniac memoir meditation centers around the family, the most universal — and Mormon — of themes.”
