Thereย’s a double meaning to the title ย“Retablos: Art for the Masses.ย” The art exhibit, based on guest curator Bob Briddickย’s private collection, includes images that are both religious and easily accessible to everyone. But donย’t worry, you donย’t have to be among the faithful to enjoy the show. Besides being expressions of faith, the retablos are also charming examples of folk art. Case in point ย— one highlight of the exhibit is a retablo of the Virgin of Guadalupe, who is both the patron saint of Mexico and a pop culture icon in America. Many of the pieces are in their original tin frame, making for a display of craftsmanship as well as artistic talent. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Through July 12. The Heritage Society Museum, 1100 Bagby. For information, call 713-655-1912 or visit www.heritagesociety.org. Free.
