Gabriel Dieter spent four years on his exhibit Revenge of the World, New Work by Gabriel Dieter at Domy Books, made up of some 100 paintings that poke fun at societys troubles. Theres so much stuff going on around the world that were gonna get payback for, says Dieter. Inspired by classic B-films and horror/sci-fi movies, Revenge, the artists first solo show, features affectionate robots, sultry alien femmes and gnarly, lumpy monster men. In one piece we see a naked green humanoid hugging a bright-red robot who has a lecherous grin on his metal face. The accompanying caption says, He wanted my love, but all he got was the pat pat, rub rub. Poor robot. Opening reception 7 to 9 p.m. February 5. Regular viewing hours are noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Through March 17. 1709 Westheimer.
