Last year, Rudyard’s celebrated its 28th year in the Montrose with the sound of Austin metalheads The Sword and $1 Lone Stars. Booking guy/bartender Mike Simms says the Austinites will return this year for Rudyard’s 29th Anniversary, but sadly there will be no dollar beers. “$1.25 Lone Stars this year. Inflation is a bitch,” Simms tells us. Word. But we doubt a quarter will keep the neighborhood from coming out to one of its favorite spots. Rudyard’s has captured plenty of Houston Press Best Of awards for food, drinks, ambience, etc., so go and show some ‘em some love by putting a beer in one hand and making metal horns with the other. San Francisco’s Black Cobra and Austin’s The Roller are sure to give you plenty to pump your fist to as well when they start things off.
