Whats the best thing about Wes Andersons Rushmore?
A.) The killer British-invasion soundtrack;
B.) Jason Schwartzmans career-launching performance as eccentric schoolboy Max Fischer;
C.) Bill Murrays acting-comeback-launching performance as Fischers friend/foe Herman Blume;
D.) The witty script that brought it all together; or
E.) Houston.
Were going with E, simply because Houstonians dont get many opportunities to claim hip flicks (Logans Run, Reality Bites and the yet-to-be-released Tree of Life starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt pretty much make up the list). Rushmore, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, was filmed around Andersons hometown of Houston. A majority of the scenes take place at St. Johns School, the private academy Anderson attended before going on to create box office smashes like The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic.
