It’ll be 20 years since Tejano superstar Selena’s tragic and surprising death on March 31, 1995. It’s been a little less than 20 years since Jennifer Lopez, a then young actress with an unusually large butt, snagged her first starring film role as the Grammy award-winning dead singer, who also happened to have an unusually large butt. Since then, Lopez has married and divorced three husbands (Ben Affleck was lucky to get out before saying “I Do”), and Selena has become the patron saint of Tejano music and all things bidi bidi bom bom. To celebrate her memory, Alamo Drafthouse is hosting Selena: 20th Anniversary Screening with Live Performance by Bidi Bidi Banda!
Stephanie Bergara and the Austin-based Bidi Bidi Banda will perform some of Selena’s hit songs before the screening.
7 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse/Vintage Park, 114 Vintage Park. For information, visit drafthouse.com. $12.50.
