Over the years, the staff at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has received thousands of photos with notes scribbled on them. Some were just a few words long; others were full-length letters. Some were correspondence about upcoming exhibits, others just friendly notes. One untitled image, by Greta Pratt, shows two children in traditional dress holding a menorah. Pratt writes โ€œHappy Holidaysโ€ across the bottom. After amassing a collection of some 1,500 such images, the museum decided to share a bit of the treasure trove with us in an exhibit they call ”Snail Mail.”
The exhibit is a bit of a tease, showing only a few of the hundreds of images from the museumโ€™s photography collection, but itโ€™s a rare peek into the MFAHโ€™s vaults. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 12:15 to 7 p.m. Sundays. 1001 Bissonnet.
