Tapas: A Sampler of Cinema and Media from the Americas

The clever folks at the Aurora Picture Show, Houston’s most charming and most enduring microcinema, are offering up Tapas: a Sampler of Cinema and Media from the Americas. The night travels far and wide, all the way from the southern edge of the U.S. to the South Pole. And in the tradition of tapas, it will offer something for every palate, including documentary, narrative and experimental works by artists such as Natalia Almada, Amanda Michell and Isabel Vega, and Ximena Cuevas. If that’s not enough to satisfy, filmmaker Ximena Cuevas and Houston curator Margarita De la Vega-Hurtado will both be on hand to answer questions and discuss the works. Sample Aurora’s cinematic fare tonight at 8 p.m. 800 Aurora. For information, call 713-868-2101 or visit www.aurorapictureshow.org. $6.
Sat., Nov. 15, 8-10 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 16, 3-5 p.m., 2008
