Texas Renaissance Festival

Don’t be surprised if recently, when passing through the general area of Magnolia, you heard swords clashing, horses whinnying and a chorus of “Hear Ye’s.” It’s just the ongoing Texas Renaissance Festival, which has been storming the Houston area since 1974, bringing with it magic, merriment, fireworks and faux jousting. Stop by for plenty of Shakespeare, as well as gypsy dances, a gentleman who goes by the name “Christoph the Insulter” and all kinds of hearty victuals, fair maidens and good, old-fashioned escapism. 9 a.m. to dusk Saturdays, Sundays and the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. Through November 30. 21778 FM 1774 in Plantersville. For a full schedule, call 800-458-3435 or visit texrenfest.com. $11 to $21.
Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Oct. 11. Continues through Nov. 30, 2008
KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
