This is the season of all things sweet, and A.D. Players is offering Houston families one of the most sugary bonbons in the city with a children’s theater musical production of The Littlest Angel. The story is based on Charles Tazewell’s hugely popular 1947 children’s book, which went on to be made into a radio show and a film. But for little ones, nothing is as good as live theater. The tender tale features a boy angel who misses all the fun stuff of boyhood back on earth. He’s messy and clumsy and he can’t sing a whit, but the angels in heaven are patient. And they allow the littlest angel to go back for a box of treasures. Of course, when the Christ child is born, all the angels want to give the prince of peace something fabulous. The boy angel must wrestle with his earthly desires and his angelic destiny. 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 1 p.m. Sundays. Through December 23. 3471 Westheimer.
