There are three lessons to learn from The Queen of Black Magic. One, if you throw a woman off a cliff, itย’s a good idea to follow through and make sure sheย’s dead. Two, if you donย’t confirm that sheย’s dead, thereย’s a good chance sheย’s going to recuperate, learn black magic and come back to kick your ass. (Thatย’s what happens in the movie, anyway.) And three, 1970ย’s Asia was producing more than just supersonic martial arts flicks. It was also producing the occasional sweet little horror film, like Queen. When the woman in question strikes back at the village people, heads roll. And bubble. And burst. Itย’s fabulous. 10 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse, West Oaks, 1000 West Oaks Mall.
