The Station Museum of Contemporary Artยs ยThree One-Man Exhibitsย features artists on the rise. Congolese-born sculptor Aime Mpane creates human figures out of matchsticks. A Bomb with a Time-Delay shows a man in shorts lying on his back with his arms behind his head. Mpane is the most notable of the three, having been featured in festivals such as DakยArt Biennale, where he showed found object assemblages exploring life and politics in his homeland. Rice instructor George Smithยs Return to Diankabou looks like a circular maze; it is made of black, chest-high walls arranged in the middle of the gallery. And New Yorker James Littleยs abstract paintings resemble multicolored combs interlocking.
