ยTo the Leftย at CTRL Gallery assembles works from women artists of Asian heritage. Grouping artists based on their sex and continent of origin may be a dubious exercise, but the works in the show are anything but. Jiha Moonยs Willow Wind Peak combines a swirl of cooling colors with what look like little pink beasts. And Barbara Takenagaยs refreshing acrylics feature intricate designs of simple repeated motifs that play with the eye — her Blue Spiral is both soothing and stimulating.
