The Tokyo String Quartet makes its 40th and final appearance in Houston this week; the group will retire at the end of this season. Formed by a group of friends in 1969 at the Juilliard School of Music, the group has enjoyed a spectacular career with seven Grammy Award nominations and more than three dozen landmark recordings to its credit. This final concert features performances of Haydnโ€™s String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 74/3 โ€œRider,โ€ Bartรณkโ€™s String Quartet No. 6, Sz. 114, and Mendelssohnโ€™s String Quartet in E Minor, Op. 44/2.
