Before you sit down to stuff yourself with roasted turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce, think about participating in the 16th annual TXU Energy Turkey Trot. A good jog in the morning, before the first piece of cornbread is cut, might help you make up for that 5,000-calorie dinner you’re going to have later on. Events include a 10K and 5K course for runners and wheelchair racers, and even a 1K run/walk for tykes. Some 6,000 runners/walkers ages seven and up are expected to participate, and most will stick around for the post-run party. 8 a.m. Starting point is Post Oak Boulevard and Uptown Park Boulevard. For information, call 713-685-6524 or visit www.shelteringarms.org. Entry fees vary for runners; free to spectators.
