Uncle Charlie will likely forget more concerts than youll ever attend. The local artist began designing concert posters back in the 80s and, 18 years later, hes still at it. Hes created his comic book-style show announcements for bands including (but nowhere near limited to) Poor Dumb Bastards, Steve Earle, Sugar Shack, James Brown, The Cramps, Ben Folds Five, The Who, Calexico, Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead and the Beastie Boys at every venue, from the now-defunct Summit and Axiom to the still-up-and-running Walters and Toyota Center.
Uncle Charlie will put a portion of his posters on sale today at the appropriately named Uncle Charlies Art Show. Many of his offerings will likely spawn a few Oh, I was at that show comments, but some are limited-edition, so we suggest getting there before your favorite memory sells out. 6 p.m. to midnight. Sigs Lagoon, 3710 Main. The show will be up through August (or until the posters sell out). For information, call 713-533-9525 or visit www.sigslagoon.com. Free.
