Singer Yvonne Washington remembers the first time she played at the Houston Museum of Natural Scienceยs Mixers, Elixers & IMAX event. ยI didnยt know what to expect, and so I brought just a two-piece. Man, I think about 600 people showed up,ย she laughs. ยAnd they were ready to party! Honey, all I had was a keyboard player, but he and I, we were dancing those people, you hear me?ย Of course, Washington knows better now ย this outing sheยll have a full band, but she expects the vibe to be the same. ยPeople come in, theyยre single and they have hors dยoeuvres and cocktails. They mill around ย and they dance! They turn it into a full-fledged party.ย
