Rocks Off sat down with Dave1 and P-Thugg of one of the best bands around, Chromeo, to see what we could learn from their royal smoothnesses in just 30 seconds. Note: They wished to be credited for their answers collectively, because My Little Pony is right and friendship really is magic.
Rocks Off: What is the worst song in the world?
Chromeo: I honestly can’t think of one! Every song I despise, I can find a reason to respect it on some level, even if it’s well executed mediocrity.
RO: What is the best lyric in the world?
C: “When I came home last night/ You wouldn’t make love to me” – Rick James, “Give It To Me Baby.”
RO: Someone throws a beer bottle at you onstage. What do you do?
C: Drink it.
RO: Without worrying about space, time, or the laws of physics, what would be the ultimate gig to play and why?
C: Live Aid, yo!
RO: What would you buy with a million dollars?
C: Mo money mo problems. Make a charity donation.
RO: What would you buy with your last dollar?
C: A pack of Halls. At least I’d be a bum with good breath.
RO: If you could canonize another musician, who would it be and of what would they be the patron saint?
C: Prince, patron saint of purple.
RO: What will be written on the plaque beneath the giant statue future generations erect in your honor?
C: Erect.
Chromeo plays tonight at House of Blues with Mayer Hawthorne and 7 p.m. Saturday on the Honda Stage at ACL. Their album, Business Casual, is available now.
