Best Live Music Venue (Medium): Smart Financial Centre
Latin music is the fastest growing music genre in the United States. As it continues to overtake streaming sites and the Billboard charts, it’s also finding bigger and better concert halls for its growing audiences. One venue that’s recognized that trend here is Sugar Land’s Smart Financial Centre, a former Best of Houston honoree, thanks to its cushy amenities, killer sound, stellar hospitality and especially its business savvy.
The 6,400-seat hall has been listed as a Top 10 ticket sales venue for auditoriums under 10,000 seats by Pollstar thanks to diverse offerings and skilled management. As of this writing, there are 45 shows remaining on the 2024 schedule, acts like indie rock sensation Mitski, comic Kevin Hart and metal legends Judas Priest. About 30 percent of the coming attractions are Latin acts, huge acts like the legendary Ramon Ayala, superstar sister singers Ha*Ash and Christian Nodal, who has more than 20 million monthly Spotify listeners and is that platform’s 265th ranked artist in the entire world, ahead of some folks you may have heard of, like Phil Collins, Chris Stapleton, The Eagles, Aerosmith and Elvis.
Getting to see Nodal (and to hear him clearly, thanks to the venue’s impressive acoustics) in a venue this size is an incredible opportunity for music lovers. Nabbing him now, at the height of his success and as he has been particularly newsworthy in 2024 is just smart. Pun fully intended, of course.
