This week not only brings endless cold-turkey sandwiches, family strife, copious escapist drinking, but also a new Born Liars record. The band’s latest, Fast Songs Is All We Know, gets its unveiling this Wednesday night. The price of admission to the show scores you a copy of Fast Songs on vinyl and the pleasure of spending your Thanksgiving Eve with four of Houston’s best and brightest punk and garage bands. Fast Songs is another hellacious helping of the Liars brand of popper-addled garage. We recommend the “Poverty Cheque” and “Tropical Disease” to break in the new material. Helping the Liars launch the LP Wednesday are The Mahas, The Secret Prostitutes and Talk Sick Brats. You can expect new slabs of vinyl from everyone on this bill in the next few months, including the Mahas, who just may have their debut 7″ on sale if all goes to plan. Get your ya-ya’s out at Rudyard’s and give thanks for rock and roll before you go in front of your elders the next day. Just make sure to shower the beer mist off first.
