The world of dance music is a fickle place; today’s sick DJ or superproducer is a has-been tomorrow. Hardly anyone seems to carry any kind of continued weight amongst the clubbers, but those select few who do are gods among men. British DJ Carl Cox is one such deity, moving crowds on the dance floor with his signature techno and hard house since the ’80s as well as producing his own albums (2007’s Global is his latest) and remixing others’ work. Somehow, he’s found time to also run his labels Intec and 23rd Century, not to mention host an internationally syndicated weekly radio show โ€” all while globe-trotting in a never-ending quest to make people shake their asses. Really now, how often do you get to see a god in person?
