This show is like something that might happen if you stumbled into a South American restaurant in Paris’s Latin Quarter, only to discover it opens onto a studio lot where a film crew is remaking King Kong and a Texas singer-songwriter is singing softly in the corner. Or it could be just another Friday local bill at the Continental Club. Clouseaux are devotees of all things tiki, bringing distinct Polynesian flavor (poi?) to vintage lounge-pop that will have you tapping your velvet slippers. Trio Musette is the latest in a long line of Geoffrey Muller projects, lacing accordion and musical saw into a wide variety of European sounds, from Ukranian folk melodies to the works of Erik Satie. Will Van Horn, guitarist and one of Mueller’s bandmates in Robert Ellis & the Boys, opens with a solo set.
