It seems like every American city in the 1980s had a band like Jerry’s Kids from Boston ย essentially a local punk rock band that got a little bit bigger than anyone expected. That sounds like a slam, but it’s equally true of MDC from Austin or Really Red from Houston. The explosion of independent music gave ย and continues to give ย huge numbers of people the opportunity to hear bands like Jerry’s Kids, who otherwise never could have been famous, but who nevertheless make such good music.
