St. Louis’s Ludo can’t be accused of lacking ambition. This past summer alone, the quintet not only traveled across the great Midwestern expanse to Cleveland to play shows hyping a new cell-phone company but also opened for Goldfinger at SOKA Fest and released a new album, Broken Bride. And now Ludo’s coming to Houston. Broken Bride has all the trappings befitting its rock-opera tag: Death, zombies, dragons and rebirth form a dramatic story arc, all wrapped up in music ranging from Ludo’s trademark Weezer-esque crunch to Star Wars-epic strings. There are even some moody synth-prog shuffle and medieval monk chants thrown in for good measure.
