Best Party Supplies: Emerson Sloan

We already assume you can find a Party City around when you need a quickie birthday gathering put together. When you want to go all out and be the talk of the neighborhood? That’s when you go to Emerson Sloan.

It’s not cheap, so have that in mind. It is, however, delightful. The sheer range of items you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in Houston is mind-blowing. They take everything from balloons to unicorn crowns to the next level. You can even rent a massive stork with a crown to celebrate a new baby. Everything is beyond cute, as if the trendiest sections of Pinterest had set up shop.

The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and dedicated to service. If they don’t have something you want, they will bend over backward to help you get it by any means necessary. Pus, their stock changes around a lot so it’s a fine place to go for ideas if you’re stumped on the best way to delight your guests.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
