In advertising, this is called "added value."

Choose Your Own Press Cover

Hard-hitting news, in-depth features, first-rate reviews — these are what make the paper version of HouStoned so darn respectable. But let's be honest: A lot of y'all pick up the Press just for "the ads," and we're not talking about that buy-one-get-one-free coupon for Bombay Brasserie.

Which is why it came as no surprise today when we saw a couple of impromptu, site-specific installations in our pick-up boxes over by the downtown courthouses.

We'd love to know how this person -- let's call him the homeless lawyer -- picked which ads to feature on the "cover."

Someone — lawyer? homeless person? homeless lawyer? — has taken copies of the Press, turned them inside out and put them back in the boxes, revealing his favorite part of the paper: the personal ads.

Apparently our year-end music coverage wasn't doing it for him. — Keith Plocek
